  1. Scott is the absolute best tutor I could find as an engineer! I struggled to find a Statics tutor and he made the concepts that seemed impossible in class, make complete logical sense to me. He doesn’t just show you how to solve one problem, he shows you how to approach any problem you’re handed in a logical way so you can attack any problem you’re handed! He is great at explaining something in every way possible until you find a logic/method that makes sense to you. His most valuable quality (other than the ability to make impossible classes like Statics seem completely manageable)- he is not condescending. It can be really hard to get help from someone for an upper level class, and even harder to find help from someone who won’t make you feel stupid. Scott has a way of helping and making you feel smart, and building you up rather than talking down to you or moving too fast.

  2. Scott tutored me in business Calc freshman year. I was clueless and had no idea what I was doing, but thanks to Scott, I passed and have a much better knowledge base.

  3. Scott possesses the rare mix of a high level of intelligence and the ability to effectively convey concepts to the people he tutors. He is very personable and naturally easy to get along with. I never felt like I would be ridiculed or belittled for asking any question concerning the subject material. It is apparent that Scott genuinely enjoys the practice of tutoring, given his infinite patience and stress free methods of instruction. Through his tutoring sessions, it becomes clear that Scott has a passion for the subjects he tutors in and he is able to impart the same level of passion and excitement for learning and understanding on his students. If you are looking for someone who will make you feel comfortable about needing extra help with a subject, then look no further.

  4. Scott is THE BEST. I tried three other tutors before him & he was the only one who could actually help me through physics. I got a 64 on my first test but afterwords sought out help & found Scott & I ended the year with a 98! 🙂 he is so very very accommodating & is willing to help in any possible way. His best attribute for me was his positivity & encouragement, no matter how simple or complex the problem he broke it down in a way I could understand & helped me gain confidence in solving problems on my own. Thank you Scott for all of your help!

  5. Scott is a very effective tutor and is worth so much more than his fees. Scott advertised free math tutoring one summer and I called him for my daughter. We ended up staying with him for several years until he left for college. He taught my daughter how important algebra is and she still talks about all of the things she learned from him. Scott made her really like the subject and she excelled. Scott is a young man with a lot of integrity. He was not only a great teacher but a great role model for my daughter. He even taught her how to congugate verbs in Spanish and she taught all of her classmates!

  6. Scott tutored me in College Physics and he was absolutely excellent! Scott is so talented and was able to prove my Professor and my textbook wrong on several occasions. He would be able to apply complicated physics problems to real-world situations, and made the subject much more enjoyable. Scott understood my learning methods and tailored his tutoring to fit me. I would DEFINITELY recommend Scott to anyone who needs help in these complicated subjects. He is like a breath of fresh air because he actually enjoys the subjects he’s tutoring, and his passion is inspiring! Scott helped improved my grade in Physics, and I am so thankful I found him!

  7. Scott is THE BEST TUTOR!! Before him, I was completely lost in Multivariable Calculus and really though I would fail. I went to him expecting to just be a normal tutoring session but it was not! He explained me not only the formulas and how to compute them but how things made sense and how you dont need to memorize anything in math if you understand where it comes from. He is a great tutor and an amazing person which made the subject actually interesting. He cares a lot for his students and is willing to work with you whenever he is available and will follow up to see how you are doing in classes.
    I am so grateful!

  8. Without Scott I would have never passed Statics or Dynamics! I was always so scared to go to a tutor because I thought that they wouldn’t really take the time to help me fully understand the concepts but not Scott! He is super helpful and will go through the same problem with you multiple times until you understand the concept(s). He’s been a lifesaver and he actually cares about his students – which is hard to find. I would recommend him to anyone who thinks they may need help with school!

  9. Scott has all the qualities of a great tutor – he’s patient, experienced, well-prepared, and accessible. He went above-and-beyond with helping me learn and practice Statics effectively, and with his help I was able to succeed in the course! He’s my go-to for anyone looking for help with their academics, particularly in the maths and sciences.

  10. Scott is the best tutor that I’ve ever had. I really appreciate all the time he put into helping me and other people in our statics tutoring. Concepts that seemed so foreign were made so understandable. He helps you to understand how and why you are doing each step in the problems to be able to apply that knowledge in future problems. I cannot recommend him enough if you are looking for a tutor in any of his subjects.

  11. I have had the pleasure of having Scott as my tutor for several classes. To start, Scott is a profound teacher and is passionate about his work. He uses analogy’s to simplify tough problems making it easy to understand difficult concepts. He asks questions to make sure you are engaged and understanding the material. He listens to your questions, elaborates on his answers, and focuses in areas of weakness/confusion. His teaching style is uplifting, positive, portraying a ‘you can do it attitude’. I consistently leave tutoring sessions with Scott felling productive and confident in my ability allowing me to be successful on my exams. My favorite aspect about his tutoring style is his flexibility to meet you anywhere at anytime!!

Scott is also humorous and kind hearted. He makes sessions comfortable, relaxing, and oddly enough kind of fun! Through sessions with Scott I have further enhanced my problem solving skills and developed better logical solutions. He truly cares about your success in his class and long term. There were times I felt like I was not going to make it though class but with Scott I finished strong. I strongly recommend calling up Scott if you’re ever in need of assistance! In the end, I received passing grades and a friend too! 🙂

  14. While Scott didn’t tutor me in a subject, he did help me be a better guitar player! Even with his busy schedule, Scott always made time for my friend and me once or twice a week to jam to whatever song we wanted to do. If we ever had a question outside of our lessons, we could text him and he would get back to us quickly with an above and beyond answer that was so helpful. Scott genuinely wants to help you get good at whatever you need help with, and has a great work ethic to do just that! Thanks again, Scott, you rock!

  15. Scott was an awesome tutor!! I had to pass the PRAXIS Core Math exam to get into grad school, and it consisted of algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics. I failed the first time but passed easily the second time after I was tutored by Scott. Having not taken a math course in three years, Scott really helped me to understand the basic concepts I needed to know, as well as strategies to take the test. I ran out of time when taking the test the first time, but had 20 extra minutes the second time. I would recommend Scott to everyone! He helped relate math to things I know and made learning math fairly easy (and this is coming from an English Major who is horrible at math).

  16. Scott is an extremely comprehensive, understanding, and personable tutor. I personally received tutoring from him in ESM 2104 (Statics) MATH 2204 (Multivariable Calculus) and MATH 2214 (Differential Equations) and in all three of those classes, he went above and beyond in his effort to help me better understand the material in those classes. The money spent (and not a lot of it compared to other tutors) is well worth it.

  17. This semester I was taking General Physics 2205 and was really struggling so I reached out to Scott. We started meeting on a weekly basis and he did everything he could to help me not only figure out the problems but really helped me fully understand the concepts. I will be in physics again next semester and will definitely contact Scott again for tutoring!

  18. I first met Scott at an ESM 2104 (Statics) final exam review session. My friend, Timmy, told me at the session “This is the guy I see for tutoring.” I was very impressed, as every question I had he quickly answered in a very straightforward way. Many of these questions I had asked my own professor, and they were absolutely terrible at explaining the concepts. I started seeing Scott for tutoring sessions regularly the following semester (My current semester) for ESM 2204 (Deforms) and ESM 2304 (Dynamics). Scott has helped clarify many concepts I found confusing. I highly recommend him! He is worth every penny (Very reasonable prices)!

  19. Scott is the man. He is an amazing tutor with a superb understanding of the classes he tutors. Before I met Scott I felt so frustrated in class because my professors sucked at teaching! However Scott does an excellent job breaking down concepts, and in addition he’ll teach you faster and/or easier methods to solve problems too. You’ll leave his sessions feeling like you actually get the material. If you are in Mechanical Engineering, his sessions are priceless!!! I’ve had Scott now for Statics, Deforms, and Dynamics. His tutoring sessions have been priceless and have easily contributed in a large part to my current good grades. If you are on the fence on paying money for a tutor or just don’t have a ton of spending money, just know it’s 100% worth every dollar and you get ways more worth for your money with Scott. And if you are really short on money you can always split the cost with a friend or two. Also, if you have Scott as a tutor you can send him questions via email/text at anytime! Its basically like having office hours with your teachers 24/7. Overall just an amazing tutor. Really nice guy. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in engineering.

  21. Scott is the best tutor you could ask for. I’ve had him as a tutor for about a year now and he has helped me raise my letter grade by at least one letter grade for each class he has tutored me in. It doesn’t matter if you don’t get the material at all or just need someone to help you master it, Scott is your guy.

  22. Scott is such an awesome tutor! He helped me with a calc class that I was really struggling in. I would not have made it through the class without him. Sometimes tutors can make you feel dumb if you don’t understand something, but Scott was so supportive and nice even if it took me a long time to learn something. He is super flexible with tutoring times and an all around awesome person. I would definitely recommend Scott to anyone who needs help.

  23. Scott was the first, and only, tutor I’ve ever had and he was amazing. I was struggling with some new material in my Physics class and he was able to pinpoint my issue within 30 minutes. It was like an “ah-ha” moment for me and it actually clarified much of the rest of the class. He helped me go through the practice test and when it came time to the actual exam, I felt more confident. I ended up scoring higher than I had on the two previous exams we had taken. He’s also the ONLY reason I passed Statics, a class where my professor was kind of vague when it came to helping students. Scott actually tries to go through it with you step-by-step. Would definitely recommend!

  24. Scott was my tutor for calculus. He was really a great guy as well as a great tutor. He took time to get to know me a little bit so he could apply what I was learning in calculus to what I might use it for in the real world. He was very patient and explained everything thoroughly so I could really understand what he was saying. He showed me everything step by step so I could see the process clearly. I would definitely recommend Scott to anyone in need of calculus tutoring!

  25. Scott was the first tutor I’ve ever had. He tutored me in Calc 1. Towards the beginning of the year, I was struggling with the online setting of class as well as some of the work my professor was giving me. Scott helped me out so much and as a result I did great in my class. He is very supportive and answers any questions you may have. He also goes through practice problems throughly making sure you know exactly what you are doing. He also has flexible tutoring hours which made it very easy to meet with him. He made a huge impact on me and my success in Calc 1. I would definitely recommend him!

  26. Scott is the first tutor I have ever had, and I could not have found a better instructor. Scott’s unique approach to help each student individually is absolutely astounding. Scott has been my tutor for 2 semesters now helping me through, dynamics, Calc III, statics, and differential equations. If you are looking for a fantastic tutor with tons of high level experience you can stop searching. I plan on keeping Scott as a tutor and mentor for as long as possible. The impact he has had on my college career cannot be fully valued in words alone. This man would work 12 hours a day and then come home to help me even if we couldn’t start working until late at night. His commitment to his students is unheard of and just awe inspiring.

  27. I’m not new to tutoring but I think Scott and Zakia are both the best tutors I’ve ever had. I’ve always need a little extra help with concepts especially when professors zoom through material quickly. I would often feel overwhelmed and intimidated during office hours but Scott and Zakia both provided such a friendly environment that it always just felt like two older friends helping me out with my homework. Both Scott and Zakia were really committed to finding time in their already busy schedules to help me out, even on short notice! They both gave me their undivided attention during our sessions and made sure to stay until I was confident in whatever topic we were tackling that day. When concepts were difficult to grasp or visualize, they were both really good at finding a different way to explain an abstract concept, which helped me out a ton. Zakia was able to explain controls in such a simple yet detailed way to me that I actually ended up liking and enjoying the class more because I spent less time feeling intimidated and overwhelmed by it. In general, Scott and Zakia are amazing people. The level of knowledge they both possess outside of engineering is amazing too. Scott especially provided so much insight throughout the job search/interview process and I’m even starting to learn some post-grad financial tips from him too; it’s insane how dedicated he is to his students. Both Scott and Zakia have supported me so much throughout my time in college! I completely agree with the review before me in that the impact these two have made on my college career cannot be fully valued in words alone. I also really hope to keep them as mentors for as long as I can! Amazing, inspiring individuals! Highly recommend them both!

  28. Scott was extremely helpful throughout this semester and made Calculus a lot more understandable. He has a great personality and made the course much more bearable. He goes into great detail to make sure that his students have a better understanding of course material. If it were not for Scott, I don’t think that I would have been able to maintain the grade that I finished with. I am not a math person by any means, but with Scott’s assistance throughout the term I was able to grasp key concepts that I normally would have have struggled with. Every time you have a meeting, Scott provides his undivided attention during lessons which facilitates a productive work environment. He is very engaged in discussions and truly wants to see you succeed. I cannot thank Scott enough for his above and beyond efforts to make sure that I was prepared during this course. If you are taking Math 1524, you are doing yourself a disservice by not reaching out to Mr. Gong for assistance. 10/10!

  29. Scott tutored my son in high school with extremely tough math courses – Pre-calculus, Calculus BC, Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. Scott’s depth of knowledge is incredible, but what really sets him apart is the way he explains concepts clearly and in a way that clicks.

Scott breaks down problems step by step, connects ideas across courses and provides strategies that make complicated topics manageable. He is patient, encouraging, and makes sure the student understands.

Thanks to his support, my son was extremely successful in his courses. If you’re looking for a tutor who is brilliant, approachable and genuinely invested in your success, Scott is the one!
